Adam Shaw brings a wealth of expertise and experience to his role as Controller at Midwestern Securities. With a Summa Cum Laude Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Comprehensive Business Administration, along with minors in Finance and Computer Science, Adam is a dedicated professional with an educational background that supports his career in finance. He is currently on his journey towards becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and also plans to earn his FINRA Series 27 license, further expanding his qualifications and capabilities.
Adam joined the Midwestern Securities team with five years of prior experience in the financial industry, having started his career as an accounting intern at an investment firm, where he was soon promoted to financial analyst. Most recently, he served as a business intelligence analyst and database administrator for a healthcare sharing nonprofit organization. In addition to his experience in finance, Adam also served in the United States Marine Corps after graduating high school.
Born and raised in Peoria, Adam remains rooted in the community through his active involvement in multiple organizations. A member of the Boy Scouts of America since the age of seven, he is an Eagle Scout and now serves as Assistant Scoutmaster for St. Marks Boy Scout Troop 225. He is an active member of the Itoo Society, where he serves on several committees, and of Grace Presbyterian Church.
Adam and his wife, Madalynne, met each other at a ballroom dance studio and have been dancing ever since. They have put their skills to work for the benefit of the community as volunteer “professional” dancers for the Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Dancing with the Local Stars event. Adam and Madalynne live in Peoria with their cat, Ruthie. Outside of professional and community commitments, Adam enjoys activities like weight training, reading, hiking, and camping.
